Holy Spirit Lutheran...
Holy Spirit Lutheran
had it's beginnings in
July of 1984 when Pr. Bob Linder began
knocking on doors in the Northwest
part of Las Vegas to start a church. By October a group of 75 people were
worshipping at an old cowboy restaurant and bar called "Los
Rancheros."
The congregation
organized in November of 1985 as an
official congregation of the
Lutheran Church of America. At Easter
that year the congregation broke
ground and worshipped outdoors at
the present site of 6670 W. Cheyenne.
On Thanksgiving of 1987 the first
building was completed in time for
worship.
1991 Lynn Hamilton
joined the staff as an associate in
ministry. In 1993 Pr. Bob
Linder moved to Yuma, Arizona to
start another church. An
Interim Pastor, Rev. Mort Talbot,
served the congregation for about a
year. In the fall of 1994 Pr. Paul
Hansen was installed at Holy Spirit.
Pr. Paul and his family were living
in
Prescott, AZ before coming to Holy
Spirit. In
1996 the first contemporary services began
with the help of Bill and Kathy
Walker. In 1998 an addition
to the building was completed to
provide more classrooms and Christian education space.
During this time various staff were
added to meet congregational needs.
In 1999 Holy Spirit called Raquel
Hummel Tally as Associate Pastor.
In the fall of
2001 Pr. Kristen Brechler was called
as associate pastor after Raquel
Hummel Tally took a leave of call to
spend time with her child.
Then in 2002 a second addition to the
building was completed, providing more
office space, a music room and a
larger fellowship hall.
In 2004 Tim
Beasley was hired as our full time
Music Minister. In 2005 Pr.
Brechler took a new call in
Minnesota, and the Rev. Dr. Stan
Jurgenson joined the staff.
In the fall of
2005 Holy Spirit celebrated 20
years of faithful ministry.
